Danish Bank Associations Face Fines for Offering Bingo

Danish bank associations have been reported to the police and may face million-dollar fines for offering games like bingo, which are considered lotteries and fall under the monopoly of Danske Spil. However, some associations have found a solution by incorporating their bingo activities under a larger organization with other activities, such as a sports club. This allows them to continue to offer bingo and use the profits to support their other activities. One example is the Aabenraa Boldklub, which incorporated its bingo association, ‘Boldklubbens Venner AaBK’, under its sports club. The Spillemyndigheden, the Danish gambling authority, has stated that as long as bingo is not the primary purpose of the association and there are other activities like sports, the arrangement is legal.
